For more than 30 years, photography has been my profession – and for almost as long, sailing has been my passion. I learned the basics in Balatonfüred at the BYC, where I was immediately captivated by this unique world: the water, the wind, and the movement of the boat. The play of nature with colors and forms is always different, yet always familiar.
The idea for this book was born when National Geographic invited me to capture the Blue Ribbon Regatta and Lake Balaton through my photographs. Since then, my work has never stopped – year after year, I have followed the races. This book is an attempt to present this fascinating world, showcasing 20 years of sailing on Lake Balaton.

I have been sailing for more than half a century. Starting out on Lake Velence, I went on to compete at the Olympics as well as at numerous World and European Championships. I have won Hungarian national championships in five different boat classes, from the Finn dinghy to the 70-footers.
I have worked – and still work – with boatbuilding companies, and for over 25 years I have been writing technical articles for the Hungarian sailing press, translating nautical manuals, and occasionally teaching. At times I also skipper boats at sea, and so far I have overseen the on-water race management and course setting at forty Adriatic charter regattas among the islands.
